Problems related to detecting an ordinal suffix or an after-number currency symbol
Introduction
This document illustrates issues related to detecting an ordinal suffix or an after-number currency symbol when the Number Processing option is set to Controlled by JAWS.
Ordinal Suffix
JAWS may not detect an ordinal suffix if it is immediately followed by a period, as in the following line of text.
You arrived 1st.
The above line of text should be spoken as follows: “You arrived first”.
After-number currency symbol
If a word that begins with an after-number currency symbol immediately follows a number, JAWS may incorrectly interpret the beginning of the word as an after-number currency symbol.
In both of the following lines of text JAWS interprets “kr” as the after-number currency symbol for Swedish crowns.
Det kostar 100 kr.
Det kostar 100 kronor.
JAWS should only interpret “kr” as the after-number currency symbol for Swedish crowns for the first line.
